Janeway et al. Ch Janeway Ch 13 pp 596-607 and Ch 14 pp 613-630 or Parham Chapter 12 pp 391-412

Transplantation summarizes the reasons for graft rejection, the immune responses that recognize and eliminate non-self tissue, and the anti-rejection drugs that make transplants possible.

When you finish Transplantation, you should be able to

• Describe major and minor histocompatibility antigens.
• Describe the immune mechanisms that are involved in tissue rejection.
• Explain the differences between bone marrow transplantation and other organ transplants.
• Discuss anti-rejection therapies.
• Apply this information to a clinical case.
