This course emphasizes the methods used to identify human and animal pathogens, their toxins and antigens. It encompasses methods used in bacteriology, virology, mycology and immunology. It will be assumed that you know basic bacteriological methods, including staining, streaking for isolation, and aseptic technique, such as those learned in MIC285 or MIC205L.

Required Knowledge/Prerequisites
This class is ONLY suitable for students who have already taken General Biology and General Chemistry (MCB181, ECOL182,
CHEM103A and B) AND MIC205B AND MIC205L (or MIC285). Completion of MIC328 is also an advantage.
