á       Become familiar with careers involving the veterinary science degree other than veterinary medical college

Required texts:  There is no text book required or recommended for this course

Grading policy:  A standard scale will be used to calculate final grades:

 A = 90%, B = 80%, C = 70%, D = 60%, E = <60%

Attendance:  Attendance is mandatory and will be taken each class period.  If you miss more than one class session, your grade will be adjusted down one letter grade for each class period missed.  Therefore, I recommend that you make the effort to get the most out of your tuition dollars.  In addition, please respect your fellow students and lecturers by refraining from talking or whispering with your neighbors during the lectures.  Remember, these guest speakers are coming in as a courtesy and I appreciate your treating them with respect.

Assignments:  All students will be required to research 3 careers/jobs that deal with animals, other than the ones we will cover in class.  A written, two page paper will be turned in for each career.  The papers will be due throughout the semester, and are noted on the weekly schedule below.  References should be included, but not part of the two pages.  No title or cover page required.  The papers should be typed, single spaced, 12 font.

All students will have to complete the IACUC module and receive a certification number in order to complete the class.

Grades:  Grades will be based on attendance and point totals from assignments.
