Cardigan Welsh Corgis

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi, not to be confused with the tailless and smaller Pembroke Welsh Corgi, is the oldest dog breed from the British Isles. They were bred to herd live stock. Despite the breed's ancient origins, few are found outside of Wales.

Cosmo is the one with the beautiful eyes. Puck is the one with the beautiful blue eye.

Cosmo, full grown

Cardis are large dogs who just happen to have very short legs. They come in a variety of colors. Both Cosmo and Puck are blue merles. Cardis have delightful personalities, friendly with those they know ( a bit stand-offish with strangers but not vicious), gregarious, playful, and extremely intelligent which makes them a bit mischievous at times. They are wonderful pets and companion dogs.

Puck at 12 weeks

Neither Puck nor Cosmo conform to the breed standard for coloration. Cosmo has an all white head and although Puck has some wonderful blue merle patches on his body, his body is primarily white. Often people with no intention of breeding and showing dogs feel they must have a show-quality dog. They believe that a dog with mis-marked coloration is either unhealthy or ugly. These are both misconceptions. Mis-marks are as healthy and as beautiful as dogs which conform perfectly to the breed standard for coloration and should not be confused with dogs that have structural or health defects. A reputable breeder will not sell you an unhealthy puppy. If you are interested in obtaining a Cardi puppy, contact a reputable breeder. Do not purchase a puppy from a pet store or a puppy mill!

Cosmo, before he grew into his ears.

It took quite a while to get those ears up. On week-ends, Cosmo uses his ears as radar dishes, searching for intelligent life elsewhere in the galaxy .
